I just finished laughing hysterically at an incident that just occurred in our household. So let me share it with you...
I am a big fan of candles. I have a candle in pretty much every room of the house and I like to light them in the evenings to make the house smell pretty. There is a candle in a little glass holder with a pedestal base on it in the extra bathroom and this is the bathroom that Dan has claimed (I think it's because he doesn't have to squeegie in there after he showers and in the master bath you do). Well, this evening Dan got home late from work (which has been the norm this week) so he was getting ready to take a shower when he decided he wanted to shave off his facial hair. So, trying to be careful with fire, he proceeded to blow out the candle in the bathroom before he began shaving with his electric razor. At the time I was in the laundry room putting some clothes in the washer, then I heard Dan say something to me and walked sheepishly out of the bathroom. I couldn't hear him so I walked to him and he said in a little kid-about-to-get-in-trouble sort of way, "I made a mistake." I walked into the bathroom to see the "mistake" and don't ask me how he managed this but in trying to blow out the candle he blew a ton of the melted wax all over the countertop (which is white marble and has to be cleaned delicately) and all over the mirror. He said he just barely blew on the candle and the wax sprayed out. You believe him? I don't! LOL. So he started scraping away at the wax with his fingernails and managed to get it all off in about 15 minutes. I was helping him scrape off the wax and asked him, "So what have you learned from this?" This was his reply, "Don't blow out candles in the dark. Don't blow out candles. If a candle needs to be blown out go get Christie." LOL! At least the boy learned something!
